The Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standards (CCBS) were developed by a group called the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance, convened by the Center for Environmental Leadership in Brussels. The CCBS is a gold standard equivalent for Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry Projects.

CCBS projects include reforestation, conservation, agro-forestry and bio-energy projects that grow wood for energy.

The objective of the CCBS initiative is to encourage the development of land-use and forestry related projects with biodiversity and community benefits. Projects must meet 15 criteria to demonstrate net benefits to the climate, biodiversity, and socio-economic development.

Projects are evaluated by independent auditors, and are issued either Silver or Gold Status, depending upon the quality of the project.
