Reliable vendors of high-quality carbon offsets are encouraged to become members of the CarbonTracker Network.
CarbonTracker.com hosts the CarbonTracker Network, which seeks to encourage increased quality, reliability and transparency in the voluntary carbon market.
Membership in the CarbonTracker Network is voluntary and free-of-charge. Offset vendors are eligible for membership in the CarbonTracker Network if they:
- Provide third-party certification that their offsets are created in accordance with one of the following standards:
- Kyoto CDM
- The Gold Standard
- Green-e
- The Voluntary Carbon Standard
- CCBA
- ISO 14064/14065;
- -OR-
Verifiably comply with an internal or other standard judged to be rigorous and reliable by CarbonTracker.com staff. Vendors must demonstrate that their standard:
- assures their offsets are additional in nature (in all cases, offsets must meet exceed legal and regulatory requirements; other additionality tests will depend upon the offset-generating project being reviewed)
- accurately determines baseline emissions levels
- accurately quantifies project benefits
- results in permanent emission reductions or offsets
- assures that all offsets are single-counted
- provides for ongoing monitoring and verification
