co2balance has been working with Bournemouth University's School of Conservation Sciences for a number of years in order to provide external validation for the science behind its operations. This process involves regular reviews of the factors used in their calculations (although these are, in any case, provided by the UK Governmnent and therefore have a solid foundation). A certificate of scientific validity is available upon request.

co2balance was founded in 2003 to provide a completely ethical and transparent means of carbon offsets for businesses and individuals. co2balance calculates your carbon footprint, advises you how to reduce it to the minimum and then offsets the residue.

co2 balance retains full direct control of all its offset projects and imposes a very high financial barrier test - at least 50% of the total capital funding for the offset project has to come from carbon offset monies. They also offer offsets by way of the purchase and cancellation of CERs and EU emissions allowances in accordance with the draft Code of Best Practice recently issued by the UK Government.

co2balance's offsets are generated by investing in projects that save energy emissions (efficiency and renewable energy based projects) or that absorb atmospheric CO2 (forestry based offsets). All projects are independently verified.
